What began in 1978 as a small manufacturing business for metal equipment developed over decades into one of the strongest players in Europe: Biohort. With continuous investment, a clear quality philosophy and the courage to adapt new technologies early on, the company grew steadily. Today, Biohort produces high-quality garden sheds, boxes and outdoor solutions at several state-of-the-art locations – all completely ‘Made in Austria’.

With technological expansion and increasing product diversity, manufacturing also became more complex. A heterogeneous machine park, consisting of equipment from different manufacturers and generations, presented Biohort with increasing organisational and technical challenges. At the same time, there was a growing need for efficient training of new colleagues who needed to become productive as quickly as possible.

Maximilian Herz, a representative of the WiCAM Group, visited Biohort – where Managing Director Harald Huber-Kasberger and the plant’s senior staff gave an impressive demonstration of the benefits they have gained from using the WiCAM software.
At this point, Biohort decided to introduce WiCAM PN4000 – our programming solution that stands for maximum flexibility in mixed machine environments. The decisive added value is that only one central software solution needs to be used to efficiently control different machine manufacturers and models. At the same time, direct communication with the ERP system enables seamless integration into existing business processes and ensures consistent, media-break-free data flows.

The existing integration already forms a solid basis for end-to-end production control. In addition, further machines can be flexibly connected at any time – both 2D systems such as shears, punching and laser cutting machines, as well as 3D press brakes. This allows the production landscape to be expanded step by step and the entire manufacturing process to be standardised and harmonised in the long term.

PN4000 is the CAD / CAM / Nesting system for PPS / ERP-driven programming of CNC cutting, punching and portal milling machines of all kinds. The various modules and interfaces enable flexible job shop manufacturing, up to unmanned fully automated, industrial process chains.
The use of PN4000 has demonstrated the potential of standardising modern sheet metal production.
For Biohort, this means not only greater efficiency, but also future prospects: Biohort and WiCAM can continue to grow together.
With each additional machine connection, a fully integrated process chain moves closer – a decisive step in continuing Biohort’s successful growth story in the years to come.
