40 Years of WiCAM • Innovation in Mechanical Engineering since 1986

News, 12. April 2026

On 15 April 2026, WiCAM will celebrate its 40th anniversary. Since its foundation in 1986, the company has been synonymous with high-performance, manufacturer-independent software solutions for the mechanical engineering sector and is now one of the established providers in the field of CAD/CAM and CNC programming systems.

From idea to industrial solution

1986 • Founded by Harald Wilkesmann, WiCAM grew out of practical experience. From the very beginning, the aim was to make CNC programming more efficient and flexible.

1986 • Founded by Harald Wilkesmann, WiCAM grew out of practical experience. From the very beginning, the aim was to make CNC programming more efficient and flexible.

By developing its own CAD/CAM software and focusing early on manufacturer-independent systems, WiCAM laid the foundations for what remains a key strength to this day: the seamless integration of a wide variety of machines and technologies into a unified programming system.

A significant milestone was the introduction of the PN4000 system, which significantly drove the international adoption of WiCAM software.

Growth and Internationalisation

In the decades that followed, WiCAM continued to develop – both technologically and structurally. The software solutions were constantly expanded and adapted to the increasing demands of modern production environments.

2007 • A decisive step was taken in 2007 when Timo Eigenblut took over as Managing Director. Under his leadership, internationalisation was actively pursued.

Today, WiCAM operates worldwide:

  • Branches in several international markets
  • A global network of sales partners
  • Use of the software across a wide range of industries

The manufacturer-independent approach enables customers worldwide to control their machines efficiently and flexibly – regardless of the machine manufacturer.

Structure and Stability

The majority stake in WiCAM GmbH is held by Timo Eigenblut’s investment company, ‘TE Invest’. With Marco Eigenblut, the next generation is already actively involved in the company. After completing his studies, he took on responsibilities within the company and now heads the software department in the cloud computing division.

The remaining shares are held by the WiCAM Foundation, which is managed by confidants of the late founder and is dedicated to promoting software development and innovation in mechanical engineering.

WiCAM is thus wholly owned by Timo Eigenblut and the WiCAM Foundation – a structure that combines entrepreneurial leadership with long-term stability.

40 Years of WiCAM • The Future Through Technology

WiCAM continues to develop successfully and is sustainably building on its strong growth momentum. This success is based on continuous development driven by practical experience: enhancements to the PN4000 system, particularly through additional modules such as the Power Nesting module, have significantly increased production efficiency.

At the same time, targeted investments have been made in future-oriented technologies: cloud solutions, modern software architectures and 3D processing are consistently expanding the possibilities of digital manufacturing. Even after 40 years, WiCAM continues to stand for practical innovation, high-performance CNC programming systems and manufacturer-independent CAD/CAM software for modern mechanical engineering.

WiCAM would like to thank all its customers, partners and employees for their long-standing trust and successful collaboration, and looks forward with clear focus to many more years of joint development in mechanical engineering.
